Our Pyramid British Larch/Douglas Fir Bollard is a square Douglas fir bollard with a pyramid top, in 175 x 175 mm and 225 x 225 mm sections, for marking out areas, protecting grass verges from vehicles or providing a barrier for buildings.

Uses

Timber bollards are a cost-effective alternative to steel or concrete for pedestrian and traffic management: guiding vehicles in a car park, protecting pedestrian areas, protecting grass verges from vehicles or forming a barrier around buildings.

About Douglas fir

Douglas fir is a durable domestic softwood. It is not quite as durable as European oak, but it is a lower-cost and equally attractive alternative. Its high resin content and naturally tight grain make it one of the most hard-wearing domestic softwoods, so it does not need to be treated. Its colour ranges from cream to pink to deep red and weathers to a silvery grey over time.

Finishes and options

  • Top style: Pyramid (fixed on this listing). The other top styles are listed separately.
  • Finish: Rough Sawn, Planed All Round (planed all round to a smooth finish), or Planed and Chamfered (planed all round with a chamfer on the edges). Planed bollards finish approximately 6 mm smaller than the nominal size (±2 mm).
  • Grooves: none, a single groove or double grooves, plain or with reflective tape (white as standard; for red, add a comment to your order).
  • Groove size: each groove is 20 mm wide and shallow, with the reflective tape set just below the surface (about 7 mm deep). The first groove is centred 90 mm below the top of the shaft; on double grooves the second is centred 50 mm below the first.

Sizes and pricing

Available in 175 x 175 mm and 225 x 225 mm sections and 7 lengths from 900 to 3000 mm. Choose the size and length from the drop-down; the finish and grooves are added as options, and the price updates as you choose.
