Oak Bollards

Oak Bollards

Do you need oak bollards that will withstand the test of time long after other types of wood fail under pressure? Our European Oak bollards are carefully selected from yard stock, manufactured on-site in our UK premises, and engineered to provide decades of durable service in commercial and domestic environments.

Use them as part of landscape designs, in pedestrian zones, or to define boundaries in grass verges; fence posts; deck newel posts; or any number of other applications. Choose from five types of weathered top profile; three different finishes; and get custom machining upon request....

The natural tannins in European Oak offer excellent rot resistance even when making contact with the ground – the key element that ensures durability for 30+ years compared to the alternative of failing within 10. The timber density helps oak withstand vehicle impact without splintering or cracking, while the grain provides that premium appearance that only gets better over time.

Every single bollard is selected by hand from our yard rather than choosing from random stock. We seek out bollards with high-quality sound timber, consistent density, and grain patterns that make it easier to achieve sharp machining and a clean edge. As a result, these bollards work great for all kinds of permanent installations, from estates to commercial applications.

Yes, oak can cost more than larch or pressure-treated softwood, but customers who know what they're doing recognize the mathematical reality - it makes financial sense to invest in an oak bollard that will last 30 years than to replace it every decade, especially when considering labour costs.

Five Types of Weathered Top Profile Available

  • - Flat top: Classic simple profile ideal for modern installations.
  • - Back weathered: Single-angled top profile offering effective water drainage.
  • - Half pyramid: Two-angled profile balancing aesthetics.
  • - Pyramid: Full four-angled profile maximized water drainage, best life span.
  • - 4-way flat top: Contemporary design with slight angles.

Pick based on environment and desired look. Pyramid and 4-way flat top profiles offer optimal longevity in commercial permanent installations. Other profiles may be more suitable for residential projects where cost is more important than water drainage.

Three Finish Options Available

  • - Rough sawn: Low-cost rustic finish.
  • - Planed all round (PAR): Professional smooth finish (reduces bollard size by 6mm).
  • - Planed & chamfered: High-end professional finish; works well for commercial visibility.

Many customisation options: Grooves for reflective tape strips; mortising for chain/rail systems; specific lengths; different section sizes. Many finish options can be machined on-site; contact our sales staff for further information.
